Geocaching Treasure Hunt
Geocaching is a treasure hunting game where a geocacher can place a geocache (container) somewhere in the world,
pinpoint its location using GPS technology then share the geocache’s existence and location with others online.
Get registered at www.geocaching.com and prepare your treasure hunting skills
for the Crystal Lake 100-Years Geocoin Challenge. The 100-Years Geocoin Challenge will take you
through the City where you will discover twelve hidden caches and explore some of Crystal Lake’s history
along the way.
Be one of the first 250 registered geocachers to complete the challenge, log your finds online, and submit your passport for review and receive an email confirming your limited edition trackable CL100Years geocoin is ready for pick-up. The challenge passport will contain instructions, a list of the geocaches and designated areas for recording the code words you discover in each cache. A special thanks goes out to Mary Alice Fellers who put together this geocaching experience for everyone.

Centennial Celebration Committee
The Centennial Celebration Committee is made up of representatives from the community’s service clubs, schools, community-based organizations,
houses of worship, businesses, organizations and interested residents. The Crystal Lake City Council is very appreciative of their efforts in
planning events and sharing our very wonderful history as a community.
During the celebration period there are many planned special events and partnerships to celebrate our cityhood. Many of these events are with our community partners who have made such a difference in Crystal Lake, and one of the prime reasons families speak so highly of the city and what it has to offer. The kickoff event will be on September 21, 2013 at Three Oaks Recreation Area with a year long celebration of exciting public events.
